-Bodog cuts all ties to the 2006 Champ
January 29, 2007 - by Jim Griffin |
Bodog.com announced yesterday that they have cut all ties to
Jamie Gold. The reason given was he was no longer needed as
the company made a decision last month to end all offline
Marketing in the USA.
Bodog still retains its other team members which are all top
USA players. Many in the industry feel Bodog gave the public a
polite reason for releasing gold while the real reason was
that he did nothing positive for their company image.
Jamie is currently being sued for half of his WSOP first place
prize. Apparently his staking partner Bruce Crispin Leyser was
worried that he might not get his fair share and had a US
Distinct Judge freeze the $6 Million he felt he was entitled
to.
Jamie Gold has never been as popular as past WSOP Main Event
Winners and many players are disappointed to not have the
champion take on the role as an ambassador to poker which the
past champions of recent years have.
It will be interesting to see if current Team Bodog members
David William, Josh Arieh and Evelyn NG are still contracted
by Bodog.com in the coming months.
