-Bruce Crispin Leyser seeks 50 percent of the champions
winnings.
August 22, 2006 - by Jim Griffin |
It has been shown many times that lottery winners usually go
broke after just a few years. It looks like this years 2006
WSOP Main event winner Jamie Gold may have already lost half
of the $12,000,000 he won just a week ago.
The Las Vegas Sun reported yesterday that a man named Bruce
Crispin Leyser filed a lawsuit in Las Vegas District Court
seeking half of Gold?s first place winnings.
Today $6,000,000 of the prize pool was ordered to be held by a
US District Court Judge to be held until this matter is
settled legally.
The suit alleges that Jamie Gold and Crispin Leyser were hired
by Bodog.com to recruit celebrities to wear Bodog gear while
playing the tournament. Both Gold and Leyser work in the
television entertaining industry and were good candidates to
fill this roll with Bodog. Gold being the more experienced
pro decided to play the tournament representing both himself
and Leyser.
Leyser has a voice mail audio which confirms Jamie Gold did
agree to split the prize pool.
We will keep you updated as this story develops further.
Update: Gold releases statement regarding the lawsuit.
